Vote for Mitch for Gay Spy’s Fitty Fitster of 2009 here.
Mitch Hewer shot to fame as gay teen heartthrob Maxxie in Channel 4’s Skins. He tells MATTHEW JENKIN why he doesn’t mind getting his kit off and how he plans to conquer Hollywood.
WHETHER it’s playing a gay teenager in cult TV drama Skins, posing for a magazine or dancing and singing in the Take That musical Never Forget, hearthrob Mitch Hewer just can’t seem to keep his clothes on.
With his six pack abs, tousled blond hair and cute baby face, Mitch has got it and he’s not ashamed to flaunt it.
“I’m really quite relaxed about nudity. Especially in the second series of Skins, the whole first week of filming I was naked,” Mitch laughs.
“I just think it’s funny. I don’t think it’s something people should take seriously. I go to the gym a lot so am happy with my body and fine with getting my kit off.”
Pink Paper: It’s been a while since we interviewed you for Britannia High. What have you been up to?
Mitch Hewer: I finished Britannia High last December, and then I went to LA for six weeks. I spent a lot of time auditioning and it was awesome. It’s been quite an unlucky year, as I’ve made it down to the final few for various roles and then lost out at the last minute.
It’s been hard since Britannia High. I had 2009 all planned out as we were going to do a second series and even a tour – but that was all taken away from us and it was hard to deal with. The whole year has been hard, but it should be a good laugh now that I’m in Never Forget.
PP: As you’ve mentioned, despite having an impressive cast and team behind it, Britannia High didn’t quite catch on. Why do you think that was?
MH: It was just one of those things. When you hype something up so much people are bound to be disappointed. I think it was the wrong day. They were given the option of showing it on a Saturday night straight before the X-Factor, but chose to show it on a Sunday afternoon, which was a very funny time. It was a shame, because the music and choreography were amazing and the cast was great. It was really disappointing.
It is rumoured that Mitch will be in the last celeb Big Brother, please no! The celebs that do this are no longer celebs, Mitch is too good to be there!
An EastEnders star and a Skins star will both be appearing at Fairfield Halls this Christmas in hit musical Never Forget.
Michelle Collins, best known to millions as Cindy Beale in EastEnders, will play Babs Sherwood in the musical that uses the songs of Take That while Mitch Hewer, who played the leading role of Maxxie Oliver in Skins, plays stripper Dirty Harry.
Never Forget, Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, December 22 to 30.
I am sorry for not updating, forgot it was July, anyway happy birthday Mitch.
